He was predeceased by : his parents, Roy S. Smiley and Ozelia Simmons Smiley; his stepmother Emma Rhinehart Smiley; his son Gary Smiley; and his siblings, Roy Smiley, Olin Smiley, Shirley Potter and Doris Henderson.

He is survived by : his wife Betty Parker Smiley; his children, Bobby Smiley, Jr. (Lisa) of Gaffney, David Fowler (Cindy) of Gaffney, Jim Fowler (Kevin Eskew) of Spartanburg, Diana Peterson (Bill) of Cowpens and Donna Smiley (Keith Sisk) of Spartanburg; and his siblings, Howard Smiley of Gaffney, Danny Smiley of Gaffney, Brenda Eich (Nelson) of Cowpens, Earlene Henry of Cowpens and Betty Addis (Baxter) of Cowpens.
