He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Henry Coggins and Zelda Wilson Coggins; his son James Albert Coggins Jr.; his granddaughter Ashley Coggins; and his brothers, Raymond Coggins, Nelson Coggins and Bobby Coggins.
He is survived by: his wife Bernice Winburn Coggins; his children, John Michael Coggins of Gaffney, Joe Henry Coggins (Janet) of Gaffney, Debbie Sanders (David) of Gaffney and Wendy Coggins of Gaffney; and his grandchildren, Susan Cunningham, James Albert "Allen" Coggins III, Lisa Coggins, Michelle Coggins, Kelly Brown (Kenny), Jeremy Coggins (Cherish) and Nicholas James Coggins. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
