He was predeceased by: his parents, R. L. McSwain and Elizabeth Atkins McSwain; his daughter Lisa Christine McSwain; his brothers, Howard McSwain and Luther McSwain; and his brothers-in-law, James Spencer and James Foster.
He is survived by: his spouse Willie Spencer McSwain; his daughter Cindy Parlier (Wesley) of Hickory, NC; and his sisters-in-law, Helen Foster of Gaffney, Gloria McSwain of Gaffney, Julia McSwain of Gaffney and Ann Spencer Stewart of Buffalo, SC.
