He was predeceased by : his parents, Ted Edward Pennington and Dora Delores Patterson Pennington; and his siblings, Janice Pennington Grigg and Harold Dean Lydia. He is survived by : his wife Karen Elaine Parker Pennington; his children, Derek Eugene Pennington (Kayce) of Gaffney, Justin Taylor Pennington of Gaffney and Brandi Vega (Dillon) of Gaffney; his sisters, Marilyn Pennington Crocker of Blacksburg and Karen Pennington Upchurch (Niles) of Gaffney; and his grandchildren, Weston Vega and Gabriella Vega. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
