She was predeceased by: her husband James Vincent "Bear" McGowans; and her parents, Joseph James "Blacky" Thornton Sr. and Zula Pruitt Thornton. She is survived by: her children, Steven McGowans of Pacolet, David McGowans of Gaffney and Beth Blanton (Phillip) of Mooresboro; her siblings, Mike Thornton (Cathy) of Gaffney, Joe Thornton (Martha) of Gaffney and Sandra Quinn of Gaffney; and her grandchildren, Brittany Tennell (Julius), Samantha Mason (Tyler), Joshua McGowans (Alicia), Tori Henderson (Wayne) and Austin Blanton. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
