He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. William Hampton Shirer and Elizabeth Emanuel Shirer; and his brother Budd Hill Shirer. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Baldwin Shirer; his daughters, Nicole Poston (Ray) of Georgetown, Elizabeth Shirer of Georgetown and Millison Jordan (Scott) of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Kindal Nichols (Gary) of Georgetown, Breanne Parsons (Cody) of Andrews, Joshua Poston of Georgetown, Chance Jackson of Georgetown and Taylor Jordan of Georgetown; his great grandchildren, Bryce, Sawyer, Lilly, Lainey, Hudson and Amelia; his sisters, Adelia Ann Ruth (Devon) of Saluda and Rev. Jane Brice Jones (Jarvis III) of Fayetteville, NC; and his siblings' children, JJ Strickland (Leslie) of Georgetown, William Hill "Little Bill" Shirer and Suzanne Shirer Pritchett (Thomas) of New Bern, NC. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Church of Christ (1786 N Fraser St, Georgetown, SC 29440). Visitation was held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
