We announce the death of Harriet Jean McDowell (Georgetown, South Carolina), who passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 62. Harriet will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Franklin Canaday and Bernice Louise Canaday; and her brother Bruce Franklin Canaday. She is survived by: her husband Bobby Davis McDowell Jr.; her children, Valerie Mims (Corey), Travis Mercer and Lance Mercer (Brittany); her grandchildren, Brayden, Harper, Cullen, Brooklyn, Kyla, Everett, Evelyn and Ariana; her niece Taylor Canaday; and her nephew Tyler Canaday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any animal shelter of one's choice.
