He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Ophelia and Howard DeVaudrey Posey; and his brother Howard D. "Buddy" Posey, Jr. of Gilbert, SC.. He is survived by: his children, James D. Posey, Jr. (Stephanie) of Columbia, SC and Sandra L. Chastain of Columbia, SC; his sisters, Dorothy Jane Posey Smith of Eatonton and Lisa Hornsby Moore (Leonard) of Lexington, SC; and his friend Patricia A. Posey of Columbia. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
