It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melvin S. Benton of Goose Creek, South Carolina, born in Thomasville, Georgia, who passed away on August 12, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Scott W. Benton and Eva Plymel; his siblings, Andy Benton and Nancy Benton; and his stepfather Julian Daniels.

He is survived by : his wife Joyce Benton; his stepchildren, Jerry Morgan of Goose Creek, Teresa Morgan of Goose Creek and Chris Morgan of Goose Creek; and his sisters, Judy Haler of Ladson and Marie Hunter (Tony). He is also survived by six grandchildren; five great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 11796, Charlotte, NC 28220.
