He was predeceased by : his wife Alma Nell Welch; and his parents, Morris Hunter Welch and Lenora Beard Welch. He is survived by : his siblings, Lois Welch Dennis and Lamar Welch (Mary Nell); his children, Vonda Welch Strickland (Doug), Norena Welch and Kyle Welch (Pam); his grandchildren, Justin Strickland, Kelsey Strickland Rogers (Casey) and Garrett Welch (Carly); and his great grandchild Caine Welch.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland of Charleston Hospice.
