He was predeceased by: his parents, Artis Cleveland Widener and Juanita Myers Widener; his in-laws, Artis Eugene "Gene" Widener (Carol), Dale Widener, Robert Wayne "Nob", Big Henderson and Wynell Bledsoe (Ira); his nephews, Johnny Widener and Jim Lybrand; and his pets, Lucy Widener, Lucky Widener and Calvin Widener.

He is survived by: his wife Josie Mae Holsonback Widener; and his in-laws, Linda Widener Henderson, Joyce Widener Smith Suber (Gary), Jackie Widener, Carolyn Widener and Freddie Holsonback (Kathy). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
