She was loved and cherished by many people including: her daughter Catherine Byrd; her brother Jimmy Carpenter; her sister-in-law Sandra Wooten; her husband J. Frank; her parents, Myrtle Carpenter and Allison Carpenter; and her sister Jean Johnson. She was also cherished by three grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Even with Alzheimer's, she touched the lives of those who helped care for her at Hilltop Health in Rutherfordton.
