He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Mathis and Lillian Mathis; and his siblings, James Mathis, Frank Mathis, William Mathis, Shirley Floyd, Janice Barton and Dorothy Turner.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Mathis; his children, Sheldon Ryan Davis and Kimberly Michelle Davis (Timothy "Reid" Davis); his siblings, Thomas Earl Mathis and Betty Plunkett; and his grandchildren, Kalebh Daniel Simmons, Seth Xavier Simmons and Braylan Matthew Davis. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Jackson Memorial Funeral Home (315 Main St, Graniteville, SC 29829). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
