He is survived by: his children, Gerald W. Barnes (Sophia), Tonya R. Hood (John) and Joe L. Barnes, Jr. (Mary); his siblings, Carrie M. Woodard (John), Peggy Young and Michael Barber; his goddaughters, Gloria Robbins and Robyn Cunningham-Hurst (Vaughn); and his siblings-in-law, Zeddie Gaston (Mary), Jessie Neal, Frances Pender (Johnny), Carolyn Page (Tony), Evelyn Barnette (Melvin) and Debra Smith (Michael). He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren: 16 great-grandchildren: and one great-great-grandchild.
