He is survived by: his wife Deborah Nelson Woodard; his children, Latasha Sampson, Monique Nelson Miller (Ivon), Erica Nelson, Racheal Nelson, Christopher Nelson (Jayna) and Nathaniel Nelson (Ramona); his grandchildren, Taniyah Sampson, Quamain Nelson, Amair, Tynia Squirewell, Zipporah Isaiah, Ezra Miller, Christian, Mykel Amaya Nelson, Elijah S. Nelson, Karis and Roman Nelson; his siblings, Margie Young (Marcus), Sara Woodard, George Woodard (Mary), Daisy McGraw, John Woodard (Mildred), James Woodard (Michelle) and Gregory Woodard (Harriet); his siblings-in-law, Jennifer Moore and Larry Gaither; his close friend Herman Wilson (Rashin Muhammed); and his niece Danielle Taylor-Scott.
