She was predeceased by: her husband John Guthrie; her parents, Willie Darnell and Ruth Smith Darnell; and her siblings, Gladys Smith, Louise Greer of LeRoy Darnell, J. B, Ida Motes, Clarence Helton and Joyce York.

She is survived by: her children, Angela "Angie" Atkinson (Brandt) and Robert Darnell (Dorothy); and her grandchildren, Connor Atkinson, Robin Darnell (Cortney) and Greg Darnell (Candice). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
