He was predeceased by: his parents, Agusta Francis Johns and Thelma Louise Madry; and his sisters, Jean King and Pat Monroe. He is survived by: his wife Norma Dean Johns. He is also survived by 6 children; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
