He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex F. Darnell and Mamie Proctor Darnell; his son Joseph Smith; and his siblings, Cecil Sayers, Barbara Smith and Sandra Weaver.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Langston Darnell; his sons, Jason P. Darnell (Ashley) of Taylors and Jeremy Darnell of Piedmont; his grandchildren, Avery Elliot, Austin Darnell, Ashleigh Siegel and Jaxon Darnell; and his sister Jackie Chafin of Jacksonville, FL.. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
