He was predeceased by : his parents, James Willard and Billie Marie Bennett Ray of Burnsville. He is survived by : his wife Jennie Thompson Ray of Greenville; his son Michael Ray (Robin) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Jacob, Audrey, Evan and Alex; his son Andrew Ray (Emily) of Anderson; his grandchildren, Wallace and Sadie; and his brother Jimmy Ray (Virginia).

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery (30 S Greenwood Ave, Ware Shoals, SC 29692). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Place Holy Cross Episcopal Church (205 E College St, Simpsonville, SC 29681).

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 844 Mt Bethel Church Road, Ware Shoals, SC 29692.
