He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cavan and Ella Marie Cavan. He is survived by: his wife Betty Hood Cavan; his children, Lanier Morrison (Neal), Jay Cavan (Jessica) and Ashley Runge (Bill); his grandchildren, Elli Morrison McAdams (Wes), Gray Morrison, Ben Cavan, Lillie Cavan, Schaefer Runge, Bralie Runge and Thomas Runge; and his great grandchild Tillie McAdams.
