With solemn reverence, we commemorate Howard Joel Smith of Greenville, South Carolina, whose life came to an end on October 8, 2025 at the age of 88, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Smith and Leona Smith; his former wife Mary Jo Leatherwood; his wife Joyce Porter; his children, Roger Dale Smith, Scott Daniel Smith, Eddie Porter and Lisa Sedgley Smith; and his grandson Matthew Porter.
He is survived by: his close friend Jean Merritt; and his children, Angela Pruett, Troy Smith (Tara), Mark Smith (Karen), Kurt Porter (Gail) and Steve Porter. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes (6710 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611).
