He was predeceased by: his parents, Jasper Newton Owens and Mary Camilla Owens Dickey; his wife Betty Belcher Owens; his stepson Ralph Belcher; his sisters, Mary Florence Owens Goff, Martha Owens Rawls Hallbick and Janie Lee Richardson; and his close friends, Ed and Evelyn White.
He is survived by: his children, John J. Owens (Kris) and Elizabeth Owens; his stepdaughter Sherrie Belcher Batson; his stepgrandchild Ashley Owfi (Reza); his sister Pinkey Faye; Cato Owfi, Ava Owfi, Dianne McGee, Margaret Wicklund and Mary Strick.
