He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman J. Bailey and Dessa Arvilla Bailey; and his brothers, Lewis Bailey and Don Bailey. He is survived by: his wife Joy Bailey; his children, Colonel Craig Bailey (Kristin) and Pamela Joy Bailey-McCoy (Glenn); his granddaughters, Brittany Joy Pike (Zach), Tiffany Peer (Jake), Norah Bailey and Lauren Bailey; his stepgranddaughters, Erin McCoy and Meridith McCoy; and his great grandchildren, Layla, Isaac, Avary and Amelia.
He received national recognition for his volunteer work with the March of Dimes, American Heart Association, and Muscular Dystrophy Association.
