He is survived by: his stepparent Jess Brightwell; his wife Linda Driver; his children, Mark Newman Browning (Jennifer) and Amy Browning Thomas (Charles); and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Carolyn Thomas, James Jennings Browning, John Newman Browning and Charles Carroll Thomas IV.
