He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Akers and Hallie Hypes Akers; his sons, Jerry Stone and James Stone; his siblings, Delores Beaston, Clyde Akers, Sr., Cecil Akers and Freddy Akers; his grandsons, Bill Averson and Ray Alverson; and his nephew William Akers.

He is survived by: his wife Juanita; his daughters, Jan Alverson Townsend and Terri Varnum (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Robbie Stone (Alethea) and Jason Sellars (Whitni); and his great grandchildren, Karlie Stone (Carson), Chansley Sellars, Grason Stone, Coltin Sellars and Waylon Sellars.

His contributions to the field were a testament to his unwavering work ethic and exemplary skills.
