He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James H. Thompson and Mary E. Boyd Thompson; his children, David R. Thompson (Missy) and Lesli A. Thompson; his grandchildren, Dawson Thompson and Laura Thompson; and his siblings, Mary E. Sims, Patricia T. Turner and James "Jimmy" H. Thompson, Jr..
