He was predeceased by : his parents, James Marion Hackett Sr. and Thomasina Rucker Hackett; and his grandparents, Julian Hackett, Nezzie T. Griffin Hackett and Ann Rucker.

He is survived by : his aunts and uncles, Frances Taylor, Jeanette White, Marie Pope, Mary White, Helen Long, Lucille Blair, Mildred Johnson, Alston, Reginald Rucker and Frank Hackett; his nephews, Donald and Dusty Williams; his stepbrothers, Zachary, Kenneth, Elston and Wayne Mackey; and his sister Cheryl Mackey. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Viewing was held on Sunday, May 26th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Parks Funeral Home (514 Hackett Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 27th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church (124 Raymond Ct, Greenwood, SC 29646).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Little River Multicultural Baptist Association (LRMBA) and the Burton Center.
