He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Purdy and Lula Bell Busby Smith; his stepfather L. C. Smith; and his brother Jimmy Smith. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Purdy; his children, Mark Purdy (Missy) of Abbeville, Roger Purdy (Sandy) of Abbeville, Michael Purdy (Pam) of Abbeville, Eric Batchelor (Sue) of Camden, NC, Marjorie Batchelor of McCormick, Sandy Alexander of Greenwood, Sandra Urban (David) of Greenwood and Pam Sweatt (Sammy) of Greenwood; and his siblings, Joyce Purdy Clark of Abbeville and Ronny Smith (Patty) of McCormick. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
