She was predeceased by: her spouse Willie Freeman, Sr.; her parents, Rosetta Payne and Clifton Collins; her son Gerald Payne; and her siblings, Charlie Mae Higgins, Wilhelmenia Brown, Rosa Marshall, Sennie Thomas, Shirley Nance, Julian, John and Cleveland Payne.
She is survived by: her children, Glenn Payne (Michelle), Willie Freeman Jr. (Paulette), Tony Freeman (Shannon) and Sharon Freeman; her sisters, Ellen Quarles and Brenda Payne; her cousin Julia Carter; her grandchildren, Christopher, Whitney, Destiny, Zavier Freeman, Irisha, Felicia Payne, Kenneth White, Monica Priester, Nyika Wideman, Asia and Tyesha; and her daughter-in-law Josephine Payne. She is also survived by twenty five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home (330 Magnolia Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646). The lying in state was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Second Damascus Baptist Church (506 State Rd S-24-154, Troy, SC 29848). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at the same location.
