He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Howard Patrick and Jacqueline Wienges Patrick; his former wife Mary Deck Jenkins Patrick; his sister Anne Patrick Godsey; and his stepson Howard Mahaffey.

He is survived by: his wife Robin Belcher Patrick; his sons, Joseph Howard III (Emily Taylor Patrick), David Jenkins (Emily Andersen Patrick) and John Rainey (Rebecca Hunter Patrick); his grandchildren, Mary Laurel (Drew Douthit), Joseph Patrick IV, Lucy Patrick, Ella Grace Patrick, Mary Deck Patrick and Hunter Patrick; his stepdaughters, Elizabeth Mahaffey and Millen Myrmo; his stepgranddaughter Adia Paulete; his great grandchild Andreas; his in-laws, Clyde D. Jenkins and Susan Jenkins; and his sisters, Jacqueline Davis (Jackie) and Elizabeth (Richard Roche).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the First Greenwood Arp Church (1635 Cokesbury Rd, Greenwood, SC 29649). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel (1425 Montague Ave, Greenwood, SC 29649).
