He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Hines Harmon; his children, John L. Sherrill, Jr. (Nora) of Matthews, NC, Kermit Sherrill of Greenwood, Karen Sherrill of Stuart, FL and Mary Elizabeth Sherrill (Michael Games) of Greenwood; his grandchildren, Meadow (David), Jonathan (Amy), Philip (Mara), Ashley, Jason, Christine, Tara (David) and Avery; his great grandchildren, Jonah, Fisher, Diggory, Audra, Nate, William and Jack; his stepchildren, Hatch (Heather), Sims (Nancy), John David (Cynthia) and Sunnie (John); his stepgrandchildren, Sadie, Elizabeth, Hines, Ruthie, Jake, John Hollis, Sonny, Buck, Hatch, Townsend and Cotton Sims; his sister Carol Young; his brother-in-law John Andrews of Charlotte, NC.; and his caregivers, Marie Morton, Brenda Anderson, Anthony Cannon and Mark Williams.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM and at 5:00 PM. Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Main Street United Methodist Church (211 N Main St, Ninety Six, SC 29646).
