He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee and Azzie Lee Morrison Williams; his son Curtis Williams; and his siblings, Polly Preece Smith and Hughey "PeeWee" Williams.

He is survived by: his children, Travis Williams (Regina) of Ninety Six, Sid Williams of McCormick and Frankie Henderson (Jeff) of Anniston, AL; his grandchildren, Kristina Williams (Chris Fyock), Ashley Williams (Clay Curreri), Taylor Williams (Tyler Laughlin), Spencer Williams, John Clark, Jr. (Lori) and Jason Clark (Amy); and his great grandchildren, Nathan, Kayliegh McCary, Kai, Atehaia Fyock, Melody, Valerie Curreri, Haley, Lily, Robert Jr., Emily, Billy Clark, Logan, Gavin Clark and Brittany Vinyard.

Lanier regularly sent donations to the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the family would appreciate it if contributions could be sent to them in his memory.
