He was predeceased by: his former wife Susie Brooks Thornton; and his sister Geraldine "Dino" Thornton. He is survived by: his wife April Meeler Thornton of Greenwood; his parents, Gerald Dean Thornton of Cross Hill and Allie Pauline Eassy of Gray Court; his grandchildren, Gregory Chapman and Kaley Chapman of Easley; his stepsons, Mason Mack (Alexis) of Waterloo, Landon Mack (Ashlie) of Greenwood and Mark Chapman (Nicole) of Pelzer; his siblings, Tracey Defao of Gray Court, Amy Smith of Seneca, Greg Thornton of Fountain Inn and Mark Thornton of Gray Court; and his pet Cash. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church and Kim's Hope (https://kimshope.org), a glioblastoma nonprofit organization.
