He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Smith and Helen Dubicki Smith; and his brothers, Woody Smith and Pete Smith. He is survived by: his close friend Larry Hoehne; his daughter Marlene Helfrich (Tomas); his grandchildren, Keagan and Walter Helfrich; his siblings, Kenneth Smith, Carol Smith and Sherri Chernoma; and his pet Dawson.
