He was predeceased by: his son Alton Deryl Lawson; and his sisters, Alice Knight, Altha Redding, Corene Weather, Helen Richards and Sue Mulligan.

He is survived by: his wife Clara Belle Richards Lawson; his son Rick Michael Lawson (Roni) of Palm Harbor, Florida; his brother Carroll Lawson of Walterboro; and his grandchildren, Kevin Lawson (Kelly), Ian Lawson, Shaina Lawson, Aimee Lawson and Rhiannon Lawson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greer Community Ministries, P.O. Box 1373, Greer, SC 29652.
