He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Lee and Edith West Smith; his grandson Myles Smith; his daughter-in-law Malane Smith; and his brothers, Jimmy Smith, Frankie Smith and Wayne Smith.

He is survived by : his sons, Todd Smith (Lynette) and Chris Smith (Emily); his siblings, Melvin Haney, Dean Haney, Brenda Plemmons and Linda Thompson; and his grandchildren, Jared, Carter and Grayson.
