He is survived by: his spouse Tommie Sue Dillard Curtis; his children, Edward "Eddie" Curtis (Leslie) and Dr. Melody Curtis (Greg Burns); and his siblings, Verlin Curtis, Barbara Bradley, Judy Carpenter and Polly Lovell.

Memorials may be made to Cross Roads Baptist Church Children's Ministry (in honor of Mr. Jim), 705 Anderson Ridge Rd, Greer, SC 29651.
