He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilmer Vernon and Eula Kathleen Brown Owens; and his brothers, Vernon Owens and David Owens. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Elizabeth Black Owens; his son Billy Owens (Paula); his siblings-in-law, Janice Moore, Arlene Batson, George Black, Eddie Black and Gene Black; his grandchildren, Blake Owens (Brooklynn), Josh Hipps (Karen) and Chris Hipps (Charlotte); and his great grandchildren, Roman Hipps and Maddison Hipps.

Memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, 3315 Anderson Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
