He was predeceased by: his parents, Reese E. Shearer, Sr. and Beulah Canady Shearer; and his siblings, Bill Shearer, Charles Shearer, Reese Shearer, Jr., Nellie Mae Leonard, Ruth Evans, Mildred Vehorn and Lucy Jane Wilson.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Brank Shearer; his children, Rickie Lewis Shearer (Vickie) of Laurens and Reesa Shearer Bindas (Michael) of Greer; his grandchildren, Matthew Shearer, Jacob Shearer, Hannah Riddle (Travis), Michaela Bindas and Reese Bindas; and his great grandchildren, Mason Riddle, Tanner Riddle and John Tal Riddle.
