We announce the death of Lee W. Johnston Jr. (Hampton, South Carolina), who passed away on September 19, 2026, at the age of 61. Lee will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Lee will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Lee will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Lee’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee W. Johnston Sr. and Patsy H. Johnston of Poplar Street. He is survived by: his sister Debra J. Thomas (John) of Fairfax, SC; his nephews, Jason B. Thomas (Caroline) of Tallahassee and Phillip D. Thomas of Hampton, SC; his great-nieces, Ellorie and Charlotte; and his great-nephew Peter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home (300 Mulberry St W, Hampton, SC 29924). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church of Hampton (400 Holly St W, Hampton, SC 29924).
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations be made to Veterans Victory House in Lee's name, 2461 Sidney's Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
