With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Martha Jean Fennell Steele of Hanahan, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 23, 2025 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Martin Fennell and Jessie Lee Priester Fennell; her son Charles Rush Steele; her granddaughter Miranda Steele; her siblings, William "Willie" Martin Fennell Jr. (Willis Harrington Fennell), Daragon Derrell (Fennell), Ann "SweetPea" Fennell Pierpoint and Sue LaMargo "Margo" Fennell; and her stepsiblings, Marie Fennell Bunch (James), Joseph "Joey" Fennell (Kathy) and Mark "Skeeter" Fennell (Sandy).
She is survived by: her husband Donald Lynn Steele, Sr.; her children, Donald Lynn Steele, Jr. (Michon) and Michelle Steele Carter; her grandsons, Donald Lynn Steele III (Megan Carter) and Jacob Tyler Steele; her great grandchild Donald Lynn Steele IV (Donnie); and her siblings-in-law, Anne Steele Farley and Johnnie Steele (Barbara Farmer Steele). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc. (2180 Greenridge Rd, North Charleston, SC 29406). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Carolina Memorial Gardens (7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406).
