Edith Leonard Tolson Obituary

Graveside services for Mrs. Edith Leonard Tolson, 78, will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, November 11th, 2019 in Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Cliff Leonard and the Rev. Brian Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10th, 2019 at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tolson entered into rest on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, she was a daughter of the late Dora Gibson and Rufus Clifford Leonard, Sr. Mrs Tolson was a lifelong member of the Hartsville First Church of the Nazarene where she served in many capacities including Children's Director, Board Member and head of the Board of Stewards.

Mrs. Tolson devoted her life and talents to the service of others. She loved to cook and always had an extra seat at the table for Sunday dinner where she welcomed everyone as part of the family. Surviving are her husband, Samuel A. Tolson of Hartsville, SC; children, Judy Tolson-Williamson (Doug) of Hartsville, SC, Barbara Tolson-Haywood (Garry) of Florence, SC, Tami Tolson Usher (Tommy) of Hartsville, SC, Kimberly Tolson Darnell (Jay) of Concord, NC, Christopher Tolson (Iza) of Lexington, SC; brothers, David "Buddy" Medlin of Hartsville, SC, Rufus Clifford Leonard, Jr. (Lynette) of Hartsville, SC; sister, Nita Taylor (Wayne) of Suffolk, VA; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Leonard Jones.
