He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. James Herndon Shepherd and Alma Combs Shepherd; and his brother Edward Shepherd. He is survived by: his wife Sara Sawyer Shepherd; his children, Lee Shepherd Jr. and Amy Shepherd Barefoot (Stacy); his stepchildren, Wendy O'Connell (Peter) and Derrick Wilson; his siblings, Freddie Shepherd and Joyce Miles (Elaine Smith); his grandchildren, Zachery James, Randall James, Justin Raines, Courtney Barefoot, Helen O'Connell, Finn O'Connell and Patrick O'Connell; and his great grandchildren, Ollie Drew and Oakley Raines. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Lakeview Baptist Church, 202 Lakeview Blvd, Hartsville, SC 29550, or the charity of one's choosing.
