With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Snoddy Hoffmeyer (Hartsville, South Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 31, 2025 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam M. Snoddy and Leila D. Snoddy; her husband Gus Hoffmeyer Jr.; and her siblings, James Snoddy and Mary Snoddy.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Nell Thomerson (Jimmy), Kay Holley (Dennis) of Hartsville, SC, Gus Hoffmeyer, III (Shelly) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Meg Hyatt (Russell) of Greer, SC; her grandchildren, Jo Nelson (Scott), Courtney Geiger (Mike), Phillip Hunnicutt of Hartsville, SC, Meredith Ledford (Cale) of Duncan, SC, Matt Sherwin (Marc) of New York, NY and Andrew Miller (Anna Catherine) of Greenville, SC; her great grandchildren, Porter Hunnicutt, Leila Nelson, Eli Geiger, Samara Sherwin, Lucy Ledford, Olivia Ledford and Johnny Ledford; her sister Margaret Culclasure of Spartanburg, SC; her cousin Jane Cook of Greer, SC; her nephew Jimmy Snoddy (Mary) of Landrum, SC; and her niece Ann Campbell (Tommy) of Woodruff, SC.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Wesley United Methodist Church (145 E College Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Coker University at 300 E. College Ave. Hartsville, SC 29550, or the Children and/or Youth Ministries of Wesley United Methodist Church, 145 E. College Ave. Hartsville, SC 29550.
