We announce the death of Maxie Lee Gainey (Hartsville, South Carolina), who passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 61. Maxie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie Bonnie Gainey and Betty Robinson Gainey; his stepmother Audrey Gainey; his wife Lisa Ann Dixon Gainey; his grandson Mason Kash McQueen; and his brother Frank Gainey.
He is survived by: his children, Lee Gainey (Heather) of Patrick, SC and Taylor Gainey (Shaquille McQueen) of Patrick, SC; his grandchildren, Kaydence Gainey and Mary Gainey; his siblings, David Gainey (Kelli) of Cheraw, SC, James Gainey (Karen) of Hartsville, SC and Linda Johnson (Butch Smith) of Hartsville, SC; and his close friend Robin Tyner McKenzie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
