She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Butterfield and Mattie Caretha Cribb Newell; her son-in-law James McLaurin Joy; and her siblings, Eugene Newell, Harold Newell, Everett Newell, Buddy Newell, Harriett Stone, Gladys Riser and Betty Mullins.
She is survived by: her husband Lonnie Wayne Cox; her children, Kenny Cox (Kathy), Donna C. Joy, Sonja C. Nexsen (Steve), Karen C. Altman and Debra C. Poole (Lonnie); and her sisters, Mildred N. Prosser and Joyce Phillips (Charles). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
