She was predeceased by: her parents, Luther Avant and Anna Cox Avant; her former husband Edwin Nettles McCants, Jr. of Nesmith; her husband Kenneth Marshall Evans of Summerville, SC; her sister Olivia Avant Lewis; and her great grandchild Samuel Ard.
She is survived by: her children, Kay McCants, Mary Anna McCants Ard, Mae Marie McCants Cox (Henry Cox) and Edwin "Eddie" Nettles McCants, III; and her grandchildren, Ricci Lahn, Ryan Lahn, Cal Ard, Elizabeth McCants, Nathan Cox and Heather Marlowe. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Savola's memory to Hemingway First Methodist Church, PO Box 6, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.
