In the sacred silence of farewell, Mary is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Mary's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her sons, William Penland Thomas and Joseph Dickman Thomas; her sister Joyce Elizabeth Keller; and her brother-in-law C. H. "Jack" Keller. She is survived by: her son Calhoun "Reb" Thomas, III (Karen) of Columbia, SC; her granddaughters, Rebecca Martin (Riley) and Margaret Horst (Ben); and her great grandchildren, Madi, Tommy and Wesley. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their spouses and children.
It was presented by Governor Nikki Haley and the South Carolina Arts Commission in recognition of outstanding contributions to the arts in South Carolina.
