He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Alfonso Simpson and Lillian Cothran Simpson; his son-in-law Ben Culbertson; and his uncle Roy Simpson. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Jean Hovis Simpson; his children, Mark Simpson of Laurens, Melissa Simpson Bruns (Lawrence) of Laurens, Tammy Culbertson of Waterloo, Tracey Roberts (Chris) of Hickory Tavern and Teresa West of Waterloo; his grandchildren, J. T. Bruns, Autumn Taylor (Matt), Danielle Prather, Benny Culbertson (Diedra), Matthew Culbertson (Charlee), Kelsey West (Jesse), Justin Marlar (Alyssa) and Kaitlyn Roberts; and his friend Tommy Henderson. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
