He was predeceased by: his parents, James Carlton Gaines and Emma Lee Whitefield Gaines; and his siblings, Margaret Rinehart, James Gaines, Harold Gaines and Wayne Gaines.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Hollingsworth Gaines; his daughters, Angela McDade (Russell), Crystal Gaines (Tony Fallaw) and Debra Lynn Bridges (Jacob); his sister Doris Richardson; his grandchildren, Amber Shaffner (Kenneth), Justin McDade (Nicole), Jeremy McDade, Tyler Fallaw (Mikela), Jordan Fallaw (Courtney), Erika Boswell (Chris), Emily Hammond (Trevor) and Rylen Bridges; and his caregivers, Mindy Brown and Carma Tylee. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.
